Valmir Lima was born in Iron Island, Sugarloaf village, Alagoas.
The beginning was like so many others. The Master Fernando, His Fernando Iron Island, and great artist, instigated and encouraged people to get to know the art world.
With Valmir was something like: "You know how to make a chair?" This question bothered the farmer who knew only sickle, hoe and the hot sun punishing the body in their daily toil. And the Master repeated. This time, saying: "Bet you did not know how to make a chair."
Valmir entered the magical world of His Fernando the instant their eyes watched some pieces of wood dropped in the Wind Boca atelier and his hands still incredulous stumbled the challenge. "I needed to show the Fernando I could do a chair." And he did.
With the help of father, little by little, chairs and benches sprang up, as if "it" were already part of his life story forever.
Often Valmir questioned and analyzed the works and the finish of the Master, mainly chairs "pies" three feet. In those moments Your Fernando smiled happy to get reveal another artist on the island of Ferro.
Shortly before he died, he called Valmir and gave his book not yet published. Allowed the son in law to continue writing in the body of chairs and benches to his poetics.
Genro and apprentice Fernando Rodrigues, the artist today plays an important role in the folk art of the country, developing chairs and organic banks with its own identity, distancing itself more and more of the aesthetic elements of the Great Teacher.
