Created in 1985, the Karandash Gallery now has a collection of more than 2,000 pieces of folk art and production of contemporary visual artists Dalton Costa and Maria Amélia Vieira. Passionate about art, the couple met over the years the Brazilian popular universe, signed by the artists: Nino, Antonio Poteiro, Veio, Jose do Chalé, Resêndio, Jose Ferreira, Celestino, Geraldo Dantas, Vitalino, D.Irinéia , Fernando Rodrigues and many others.
The Karandash Gallery causes a constant dialogue between contemporary art and popular art. In the collection are prints, drawings, paintings and sculptures mainly small, medium and large formats.Also works with production of documentary videos of the artists in the collection.
